InterMoor is looking to add a Senior Mooring Engineer to the team. The Senior Mooring Engineers are responsible for performing in-office and offshore engineering tasks to satisfy project and regulatory requirements, develop and install effective and reliable mooring system designs, and help ensure safe and efficient offshore mooring operations. The Senior Mooring Engineers are expected to work closely and collaboratively with clients, project managers, other engineers, offshore operations personnel, and vessel crews to provide technical knowledge and experience and perform engineering calculations to fulfill project goals. This position is based in Houston, TX, participates in engineering activities initiated from InterMoor's primary office locations: Houston, TX, Morgan City, LA, and Fourchon, LA, and will require domestic and international travel and offshore work.


Duties

  • Performing in-office and offshore engineering tasks and duties
  • Performing detailed engineering design and analysis work for studies and projects
  • Developing and reviewing project and engineering deliverables for studies and projects
  • Oversight, direction, and training of less experienced engineers
  • Support of offshore personnel while working offshore
  • Support of QHSE assurance practices
  • Learning to support technical sales efforts (e.g., presentations, publications, serving on JIPs and committees, etc.) and proposal development
  • Design mooring systems and perform analyses to confirm that the designs and installation techniques satisfy regulatory and project specific design requirements
  • Develop, review, and evaluate offshore mooring installation concepts, methodologies, and drawings for technical and commercial feasibility, efficiency, and QHSE risks
  • Define minimum installation vessel requirements and evaluate candidate vessels
  • Develop procedures for mobilization, demobilization, and execution of offshore installation, hookup, disconnect, recovery, repair, and replacement operations
  • Perform rigging design calculations and generate equipment lists for offshore operations
  • Interface with clients, vessel owners, and third parties as needed
  • Attend project shore base and offshore vessel site visits to evaluate operational capabilities, capacities, constraints, and requirements as needed
  • Supervise offshore mooring and subsea equipment installation work
  • Collaborate and communicate with other engineers and offshore operations and installation vessel personnel
  • Generate Daily Offshore Operations Progress Reports, As-built Installation Documents, Management of Change Forms & Requests, and Post Job Offshore Operations Summary Reports during and after offshore execution


Required

  • Bachelor or Master of Science (BS or MS) in Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent
  • 5-10+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the marine and offshore industry
  • Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong attention to detail
  • Significant understanding of offshore and/or marine industry terminology, concepts, and practices
  • Significant understanding of mooring system design and analysis techniques and practices
  • Significant understanding of offshore operations methods and practices
  • Some understanding of QHSE assurance standards and practices
  • Learning to support technical sales efforts (e.g., presentations, publications, serving on JIPs and committees, etc.) and proposal development
